In pursuing marine-based technologies and research in the medical sciences, we ensure that resources are used efficiently while protecting the biodiversity of the area where these ventures are based. The company was incorporated in 2000 to commercialize the technologies developed by the research facilities under Poseidon’s stewardship.
Poseidon has three areas of major interest: (1) Solutions to environmental and commercial technologies adversely affecting our oceanic environment; (2) Innovations in the artificial culture of marine and freshwater organisms of economic importance; and (3) the development of natural compounds for use in medical treatments. The first has led to the development of a novel concept that prevents the attachment of barnacles, accomplished through the use of environmentally friendly biochemicals instead of deadly man-made toxins that are now slowly killing our oceans. The second has led us to ways of producing marine food organisms that reduce the harvesting pressures on natural populations. The third has resulted in the discovery of compounds for skin diseases, diabetes and malaria control.
We also provide consulting services in the areas of coating, insect repellent and dermatological research; the promotion of new technologies for licensing, and regulatory support for chemical and biochemical products.
Poseidon pursues projects that satisfy the need for economic gain, underscored by our concern for the environment on which our company, and the earth’s future, depend. If you are aware of opportunities where Poseidon and your company may benefit together in the future, please feel free to contact us.
