Poseidon Sciences Group, in collaboration with Sulu Garden Foundation, Inc. (SGF Philippines) and Applied Minerals, Inc. (USA) validated the effectiveness of the novel non-toxic technology for cleaning up oil spill called Nereid 990. The sinking of the tanker, MT Princess Empress, that carried 1 million liters of industrial oil in the waters of Mindoro Island (Philippines) is the most recent ecological disaster in the world. But, it presented an opportunity to fine tune the clay-based oil spill response technology that had been under development since the Deep Water Horizon oil spill disaster in the Gulf of Mexico two decades earlier.
